Goudy Oldstyle Regular Italic

Regular Italic carries the easy, calligraphic spirit at the heart of Goudy’s design. Its gentle slope and softly modeled serifs introduce motion without disrupting the page, making it a natural voice for emphasis in long-form text. Compared to the upright, it feels more intimate and conversational, yet it retains the same sturdy color and readability. In extended passages it weaves seamlessly with the roman, while in display settings—especially with the option of long descenders—it adds a lyrical touch that recalls the warmth of early twentieth-century book typography.
