Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) is celebrated now as he was in his own time for a 'universal genius' which he applied to sculpture, painting, architecture, poetry and anatomical study during the course of a 70-year career that established him as a central figure in the development of the Italian Renaissance. Among his most well-known creations are the painting of the Sistine Chapel, the Pietà and David.
The Michelangelo font was created in association with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and originally released with the Rodin fonts as a 4-font set as a tribute to the achievements of these extraordinary artists.
