Underground Regular Italic

Regular Italic introduces a gentle forward motion to the steadfast voice of Underground, shaped with a calligrapher’s sensitivity rather than a mechanical slant. Imagined in the spirit of Johnston himself, its forms feel written, not merely tilted—curves soften, terminals breathe, and the rhythm becomes more conversational. Within the family it serves as a natural counterpoint to the Regular roman, adding emphasis without disrupting clarity. Use it to weave contrast into signage systems, long-form text, or cultural identities where history and humanity need to move together.
