Underground Extra Bold

Underground Extra Bold pushes Johnston’s humanist forms into unapologetically assertive territory. The strokes grow dense and confident, yet the familiar rhythm and open proportions keep the voice clear rather than blunt. Compared to the lighter weights, its presence is immediate—ideal for building strong typographic hierarchies or anchoring a layout with a single, declarative line. Pair it with Regular or Book for contrast that feels rooted in the same heritage. Even at its heaviest, the design retains the warmth and clarity that made the original Underground lettering endure.
