For eleven years Louise Fili was art director of Pantheon Books, where she designed 2,000 book jackets. In 1989 she started her own design firm, Louise Fili Ltd, specializing in food packaging, restaurant identities, and books. She has authored and co-authored over twenty books on graphic design and Italy, and teaches at School of Visual Arts in New York City and Rome. She was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome, is a member of the Art Directors Hall of Fame, and is a recipient of the AIGA Medal for Lifetime Achievement. Louise has published books on the disappearing vernacular signs of Italy and Paris; she is currently working on a book of Barcelona signage.
