Harold Curwen managed and took over the The Curwen Press from his grandfather (Reverend John Curwen 1816–1880) in 1914, and was a key figure in British printing in the early 20th century. Harold Curwen designed a sans serif in 1911 and the Curwen poster type in 1918.
