Pierre Simon Fournier

Pierre-Simon Fournier (1712–1768) was a French mid-18th-century punch cutter, typefounder, and typographic theorist. Also known as Fornier le Jeune, to distinguish him from his father, he was both a collector and an originator of types. Fournier’s contributions to printing included the creation of initials and ornaments, the design of letters, and the standardization of type sizes.
