I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I

I PHOTOGRAPHED THIS ROAD the same day I decided to purchase the old Lanston Monotype Machine Companies punch cutting and matrix manufacturing department.

A complex international deal was made more difficult with the logistics of international governing bodies and banking regulations.

Northland Letterpress had five law firms smoothing out the paperwork. Two of them stationed in San Francisco. The other three were not only in different jurisdictions but in different countries.

The financing, insurance and tax mechanisms were too intertwined to be described in brief. This was all guided by very strict fiduciary responsibilities towards shareholders. Conflict of interest was a very strong concern.

Appearances can be more important than reality. On the other hand, I must admit!

But I was no "stranger to danger".
