This font set paralleled typographer Ted Staunton's authorship of an historical novel, The Clifford Bible. Between the English Civil War (1640s) and the Victorian Era (1839-1901), the Clifford family recorded aspects of their lives in their family Bible. Handwriting made transitions from gothic to copperplate, and reflected characteristics imparted by the writing instrument- from the quill to the steel nib.
