Torleiv Sverdrup Special
Designer Spotlight: Torleiv Sverdrup
This month, P22 is featuring the designs of Norwegian type designer Torleiv Sverdrup. Torleiv has been a freelance graphic designer for more than 25 years. Since 2005, he has spent most of his time working on type design. "I get inspiration wherever I go. Whenever I get an idea, I start from scratch, working with just a couple of letters. These letters then serve as a matrix for the remaining letters. The final result is often quite different from my initial idea, as I let things evolve as they go. The creative process is the drive, the engine, of my work: it is like a voyage during which you have enter many hitherto unknown ports of call."
Torleiv has designed 9 font families exclusively for the IHOF Collection, including Coda, Foxtrot, Hoy, Kirkwall, Late November, Mai, Spiggie as well as the highly decorative font families Speyside and Ornes. Each font possesses its own flavor with inspiration drawn from the contrasting shores of faraway places such as the Orkney Islands, Tobago and his native Norway. All fonts in the Torleiv Sverdrup collection contain Pro styles and are ideal for wide array of design uses.

Celebrating the master architect...
The Eaglefeather font family is based on the alphabet designed by the master architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, for the Eaglerock project in 1922. In 1998, in conjunction with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Taliesen West, P22 released the FLLW Eaglefeather Set, an adaptation of the font that included a set of extras and other type-savvy features. In 1999, the font was further expanded with a light version as well as small caps and a unique informal version in three weights- Regular, Light and Bold. Eaglefeather Pro completes the family with the addition of two new weights, Hairline and Black plus OpenType features available for all pro styles. In all, the NEW Eaglefeather Pro Family contains 15 full-featured, OpenType fonts plus 20 basic styles.
